We’ve got a problem with the 50+ Newsletter. It’s the name. It turns out most of our reading audience is over age 65! On our 1-year anniversary this month we have decided to change the newsletter name to The 60+ Newsletter (formerly the 50+ Newsletter) to better reflect the age of our 60-year-old plus audience.
As a Certified Personal Trainer, my focus lies primarily on working with individuals aged 60 and above. I understand this group’s special fitness needs and can relate to them as I am age 65 too. This specialization with older clients has earned me the nickname “The 60+ Certified Trainer.” It’s a nickname that stuck!
“Over time, my clientele has skewed even older, with most the individuals I train now falling into the 70+ age group”
Over time, my clientele has skewed even older, with most the individuals I train now falling into the 70+ age group. Remarkably, my oldest client is 88 years old, and he continues to make significant training gains in muscle and strength.
So, editing the newsletter name to the 60+ Newsletter is a natural progression for me.
I realize people over 60 years old have unique challenges. Without a solid fitness plan, they are losing muscle mass and bone density each year due to the aging process. I’ve encountered numerous clients who previously visited national box gyms, only to be paired with a young inexperienced trainer lacking proper training or certification. These mismatches often lead to frustration, injuries, and wasted time and money. My specialized education and training as a Certified Personal Trainer specifically equip me to work with older clients dealing with obesity, hypertension, joint issues, and other chronic conditions. I’m on the front lines daily, witnessing what truly works to improve the fitness of older individuals. Many of you know I’m a physical work in progress too. I’ve lost 40 pounds and continue to cross train and work out 6 days a week!

Worldwide Reach- All Readers Face Same Challenges
Another development is our audience has become worldwide with our largest groups of newsletter readers, after the United States, in India, Canada, Australia, Philippines and Great Britian. In my 60+ Newsletter, we show that staying in shape as we age is about fundamentals, regardless of nationality. I share practical strategies for the gym, weight loss tips, and smart choices for grocery store and restaurant orders that apply to everyone. Occasionally, I’ll also include links to apps, articles or books I’m currently exploring.
My mission is to provide free, expert fitness knowledge to both men and women aged 60 or older, regardless of their current fitness level.
Thanks for reading this newsletter.
